Litigation
LJP's
litigation group, headed by Jonathan
Jay, has extensive litigation and trial experience
in the representation of plaintiffs and defendants in
a wide variety of traditional intellectual property
matters-including patent, copyright and trademark disputes.
These matters have involved the representation of both
individuals and business clients in state and federal
courts throughout the nation. Increasingly, our clients
have also called upon us to help them resolve disputes
arising from Internet usage and electronic commerce;
LJP is therefore fully committed to having the people,
resources and technology that are frequently needed
to resolve the unique litigation problems that have
arisen from an increasingly competitive economy, and
the emerging needs of our clients.
Because many of our clients also face problems outside
the intellectual property arena, our litigation lawyers
also have a wide variety of litigation and trial experience
involving other commercial matters.
LJP's
litigation philosophy is an aggressive one. We have
found that early investigation and discovery often leads
to a quick resolution of litigation, either because
cases are prompted to settle, or because they are amenable
to disposition by summary judgment. Our litigation group
also realizes, however, that many times litigation is
not the best way to resolve legal disputes. We know
that litigation (at best) is time-consuming, expensive
and distracting. LJP is sensitive to the appropriate
use of litigation alternatives, including mediation
and arbitration proceedings.
